Conveniently located off Interstate 90 East, the Beavertail Hill State Park offers river frontage, a nature trail and developed camps and picnic areas. Tipi rentals are also available in this park.
The Council Grove State Park commemorates the 1855 Hellgate Treaty signed between the United States Government and the Salish, Kootenai and Pend d'Orielle Indians, which created the Flathead Reservation. This day-use-only park is an ideal place for visitors to reflect on the historical event.
Frenchtown Pond State Park features a small, spring-fed lake that has a maximum depth of around 10 feet. Activities in this day-use-only park include swimming, canoeing, snorkeling and fishing. Motorized boats are not permitted in this State Park.
The Fort Owen State Park is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Established in 1850, much of the original fort remains and period furnishings are on display in the buildings. In less than an hour, visitors explore the museum and grounds of the first permanent white settlement in Montana.
